Bill Northrop – Publisher

Bill is a Pittsburgh native, where he later raised his own children. He and his wife decided to move to Charleston to launch the magazine, which they have been working on for a year. Bill went to Boston University and then the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and has a background working with various publications. Bill is an avid reader, competes competitively in Masters swimming, enjoys golf and is involved in his church. He also volunteers for various non-profits. His favorite spot in Charleston to take visitors is South of Broad and the Battery due to the impressive architecture.

Lisabeth Northrop – Co-publisher

Lisabeth is originally from New Jersey but she spent the past 28 years with her husband (after meeting him at the St. Petersburg Times) and children outside of Pittsburgh. Once their children were grown, they decided to take a leap of faith and move to Charleston to follow their dream of launching the Mount Pleasant Lifestyle magazine. She has two granddaughters, who are her world, and one more on the way. She enjoys going to the beach, reading, and is very involved in her church.

Rachel Castejón – Editor

Rachel has always called South Carolina home, but it wasn’t until college that Charleston became her city. What started as a fun hobby of running a food blog with her husband quickly turned into something more as they garnered a following on social media. Thus, a lot of her time is spent cooking, developing recipes, and shooting for the blog when she is not busy with the magazine. Aside from working on the blog and editing the magazine she enjoys going out for drinks or trying new restaurants. Fun fact: She’s also a Spanish interpreter.

Sydney Herwig – Writer

Sydney was born and raised in the Atlanta area before moving to Charleston this fall. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a major in Journalism: Magazines and is now a freelance journalist. She’s constantly looking for her next DIY project or baking her latest Pinterest find. She plans to eat her way through Charleston one restaurant at a time, go on as many historical house tours as possible, and looks forward to setting down some roots along with her boyfriend, Sam, and cat, Lola.

Kayla Schaughency – Photographer

Kayla moved to Charleston less than a year ago post-graduation from Point Park University in Pittsburgh because she longed to try something new while enjoying the perks of the beach life. Most weekends you can catch her on Sullivan’s Island, which has so far become one of her favorite spots, or driving around exploring new places to photograph and hang out with friends. Outside of photography she enjoys teaching herself calligraphy and modern lettering. She absolutely cannot live without her camera or avocados.

Debbie Sledziona – Writer

Debbie wrote her way through undergraduate at the University of South Carolina where she was an English major, but has since decided to trade in term papers for articles as she comes to the magazine. Debbie loves reading, writing, cooking and walking her dog. Dogs are her world and when she’s not with her own, she works at a vet office as the client service coordinator. She is currently working on her master’s degree in Elementary Education. Debbie’s favorite beach is Edisto Island because of the tranquility and seashell selection.
